I am a registered person with disability the CEO and founder of a CBO called DIWA -Disability With Ability which deals with persons with disabilities (PWDs) of every nature and their caregivers
I acquired the disability through a road accident which also claimed the life of my 3m5 year old daughter. I was on a wheelchair for 11 months and later some of my body parts could not function. I registered myself with the NCPWD and started the organization in order to assist the PWDs in knowing that disability is not inability and that they are important if only they discover who they are.
We are operating in Kilifi county.
I have been in the front line in fighting stigma and ensuring that the PWDs in the county accept themselves and get registered under the NCPWD. I campaign for inclusion in all aspects of their lives. I have taken the PWDs from the entire county for inclusion beach fun day at the beach to claim their rights and get heard in blue economy matters. I go to various places campaigning for inclusion and making sure that there are ramps for easy access of the PWDs to public spaces and that sign language is embraced everywhere.
I join hands with the county officials to fight against GBV. I have been recognized on disability matters at the county level and also recognized by his excellency the president of Kenya as a philanthropy matters disability.
I am currently pursuing the el nino preparedness as far as persons with disabilities matters are concerned.
